March First Impressions

It is time for my March First Impressions, quick reviews of the beauty products I have tried this past month. I will start with products I haven’t done full reviews on first, giving my thoughts and first impressions. And then end with the products I have done reviews on, with a link to the review.

March First Impressions

I bought a few products from Luhla during their sale, and finally started putting them to the test. First up the Frankincense Facial Oil and Hydrosol. I love how soothing and refreshing the Hydrosol is, and the scent isn’t too overpowering which I like. I have been using this after cleansing, and it helps to add moisture and calm the skin. The Facial Oil is great, it is light and easily absorbed and doesn’t feel greasy. I have been using this at night, and it leaves my skin plump and hydrated, the scent isn’t the greatest, but it is bearable. The Chamomile Hydrosol smells terrible, I tried it once, and then gave it away, I just couldn’t.

SIX Skincare Review

I received these two products from *SIX Skincare to try, a brand I didn’t even know existed! When using skincare products, it takes a while to see results, however with cleansers, masks, mists and scrubs, I expect an immediate result. I am not talking about the long term results, but I expect a cleanser to cleanse and a mist to hydrate and prep. First up, the Velvety Soft Cleanser is a soothing cleansing milk. It is gentle on the skin, but doesn’t remove makeup very well as is the case with most cream cleansers I have tried. So it is best used in the morning or with a facecloth as the second part of your double cleanse. The Soothing Lotion is a very fine mist, that can be used to tone or hydrate the skin. I have been using this before moisturising, as well as after applying my makeup and it does a great job of hydrating and plumping the skin. Why it is called a lotion, I don’t know, I think Soothing Face Mist would be a much better name. Name aside, I really like this, and have been using it almost daily. They also have a Glycolic Acid Face Wash that I have my eye on!

The Body Shop SA Drops of Light

I love The Body Shop products, and there aren’t many ranges I haven’t bought. I was really looking forward to the Drops of Light range, and then the *Brightening Serum landed at my doorstep. It is lightweight and hydrating, and is meant to brighten the skin and reduce dark marks thanks to Vitamin C and Red Algae. I can’t comment on the brightening, as I haven’t used the product continuously for a significant amount of time, but I can say that it is hydrating without being oily, and gives my skin a subtle radiant glow. I plan on buying a few more products from the range, and then doing a full review, so keep your eye on the site.

Skin Creamery Review

I have wanted to try a few Skin Creamery products for quite a while, and finally treated myself to some. The Facial Hydrating Oil is a super lightweight oil that is best mixed with a few drops of water and pressed into the skin. It is easily absorbed and I notice a visible difference in my dehydration lines after using this continuously. The Facial Cleansing Powder is quite a fine powder that is to be mixed with water to form a paste, and then applied to damp skin as a cleanser. It deep cleanses skin well without being drying, and my skin feels and looks refreshed and lightly exfoliated after use. The only issue I have, is that it is a bit of a mission to mix a powder every day to clean your face, so I use this to cleanse and exfoliate my skin before I use a mask instead. This powder can also be mixed with honey and used as a face mask, although I haven’t tried that yet. Lastly I have The Everyday Cream that is a lightweight but super moisturising cream that can be used on face and body. This cream is pretty expensive, so there is no way I would use this on my body, but I am loving it as a hand cream, especially because it is face friendly, so it won’t irritate my skin when I am applying my makeup or face skincare. When I first used it, I didn’t think this lightweight cream would be moisturising enough for my hands, as I prefer a thick body butter, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has a natural comforting scent, and I just love the packaging!

I really enjoyed using these products so I asked my dad to buy me the two new products and another Everyday Cream for my birthday, you can check out my March Haul and Birthday Gifts over here.

March First Impressions

I don’t really have too much to say about these products, they are okay, but not amazing, and I find the scent of the Cleansing Gel very strong. I use the soap as a body soap in the shower, and I have been using the cleanser on and off, it removes makeup and dirt pretty well, but isn’t my favourite cleanser.

Kiehl's Pure Vitality

I have been testing out the *Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream for a while now, and I love how hydrating it is. It has a really weird texture, a sort of oil/cream/gel, it starts off as a cream, melts onto the skin like an oil and then absorbs into the skin feeling like a lightweight gel. I had a few dry patches on my cheeks that have really improved, and this is definitely one I will be taking into winter with me. It is 99.6% naturally derived, contains ginseng for skin texture and glow and manuka honey to help restore the skins barrier. I will have a full review coming soon, but the only thing I am not a fan of so far, is the scent, luckily it fades quickly.

March First Impressions

I received the *Johnson’s Vita-Rich Soothing Body Lotion a few weeks ago and have been using nothing else since. I am a body butter girl, my skin needs proper hydration, and usually lotions don’t cut it. To be honest I didn’t think much of this, and I was going to leave it as a guest hand lotion, but then I tried it, and I like it, I really really like it. I definitely want to try a few more variants too.

The Body Shop White Musk L'Eau

I haven’t tried a new fragrance in quite a while, so I was quite excited to receive this *White Musk L’Eau from The Body Shop. I am not a huge fan of the original White Musk range, but this one is so fresh and floral, with notes of Jasmine, Pear and Rose Essence. It is also vegan and cruelty-free. I am not too sure when it is launching in store, but if you like fresh, floral fragrances, you may want to take a whiff.
