Christmas Gift Guide 2020- Makeup

My last Christmas Gift Guide is for all of the makeup lovers out there! I love makeup, although these days I hardly wear any anymore, but on days when I am feeling a bit bleh, putting on some makeup really helps lift my mood. I have rounded up a few products that would be a total hit for anyone who loves makeup, but brace yourself, there is a lot. I am going to talk through each product in the order of the swatches, which is probably the easiest way.

Looking for other gift ideas? You can check out my previous Christmas Gift Guides here for skincare, home fragrances and more.

Christmas Gift Guide Makeup

Let’s start with the face products in order of the swatches.

*Catrice Luminice Highlight & Bronze Glow Palette- Catrice make some of the best affordable makeup products, their foundation and highlighters are amazing! This palette contains three products, a Soft Highlighter which is more like a brightening under-eye powder, and a Highlighter and Bronzing Highlighter. Unfortunately the Soft Highlighter will only work on light to light medium skin tones, which is a let down. The other two shades however will be beautiful on all skin tones, they can also be mixed to find the perfect shade. The powders are buttery soft, and you only need a tiny bit (or it can look powdery). I love that there is no visible glitter and shimmer, just a beautiful glow. You can shop Catrice online here.

Next up I have the most beautiful blush, the Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Elegance. It is subtle, but leaves the skin with a beautiful healthy flush and can be built up. It is a warm shade with a satin sheen, but with absolutely no shimmer.

Another palette that would make a lovely gift is the Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Face Palette in Lovegasm. This palette has it all, bronzer, blush and highlighter! The powders can also be used on the eyes, so it really can do it all. The packaging and embossing are beautiful. The formula is beautiful and silky and the powders are extremely pigmented.

Lastly, a product I have been reaching for a lot, the Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen in Apricot Glow. This isn’t a corrector or a concealer, but rather an illuminating and brightening product to improve skin radiance and reduce signs of fatigue. I have the shade Apricot Glow and it works so well to disguise dark under-eye circles without creasing.

Swatches of the next three products are below.

Another highlighter palette, this time from *Essence. The Choose Your Glow Highlighter Palette has a glow for all occassions, Candlelit Glow, Major Glow and Summer Glow. My favourites are Candlelit, a soft radiant highlighter and Summer Glow, a warm golden highlight. The shades can also be mixed together for your perfect glow. You can find Essence online here.

MAC always has the best Christmas Collections! I used to collect products from nearly all of the Limited Edition Collections that came out, luckily I have stopped that bad habit, but I still have a lot of the products in my stash waiting to be used. So, you will be happy to know, I didn’t buy anything from the latest Christmas Collection, but instead I am showing you the Here Comes Joy Opalescent Face Powder from a previous collection. It is a beautiful warm highlighter! For this years collection, there are gift sets, lipsticks, highlighters and more, and most makeup lovers would love a MAC gift.

The last face product is the cutest Moschino + Sephora Bear Highlighter. It has two shades, Uptown, a light golden shade and Downtown, a warm copper/bronze shade. The formula is beautiful, the packaging is cute, and I can’t get enough of it!

Moving on to lip products, there is matte, glossy, balmy and more!

Perfect gifts for makeup lovers

First up the *Catrice Demi Matt Lipstick in Warm Sandstone, a warm rosy shade. The formula is smooth, non drying and long lasting.

As you can see, I love a nude lip. The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in Libre is another warm toned nude, although a bit darker and browner. It has a satin finish, applies smoothly is comfortable and wears well without fading.

Next up I have the Dior Rouge Baume in Lili, a balmy lipstick that nourishes and hydrates the lips while providing a wash of colour. If you are looking for a high pigment opaque lipstick this is not for you, but if you want a lightweight summer lipstick that hydrates and protects the lips, then you will love this. You can now shop Dior online here, and they have some lovely gifts too!

Another balm product is the Glossier Cherry Balm Dotcom. This Universal Skin Salve can be used on lips or cheeks for a light tinted wash of colour. I love the cherry scent too! It is very nourishing and hydrating, and this would be a perfect gift for anyone, not only makeup lovers!

Lastly I have the Pat McGrath Labs Mini MatteTrance Lipsticks in Omi, 1995 and Flesh 3. This set is the perfect set of nude matte lipsticks, warm toned, cool toned, it has both. Although matte, these lipsticks are comfortable to wear, and like more matte lipsticks are extremely long wearing, perfect for using under a face mask.

What is a makeup gift guide without some brushes?!?

I love Real Techniques Brushes, and these little brushes have a full sized head, but a travel sized handle making them very convenient to travel with. Here I have the Expert Face Brush and Contour Brush both great picks from the brand.

Another brush brand I am quite fond of is *EcoTools, and this Start the Day Beautiful Kit has a collection of five brushes perfect for those starting out or those who want to add to their brush collection. It also includes 3 how-to cards for different beauty looks to achieve using the brushes in the kit and a storage tray.
