How good am I this month? I really deserve something cool for being on time with my Monthly Posts! If you haven’t checked out my Favourites and Haul, why not have a look? But for now, let’s dive into September First Impressions!
Summer is around the corner, which means it is time to get my skin and feet summer ready! This Skin Republic Foot Peel isn’t as intense as some others I have tried, but it does a good enough job of removing the dead rough skin from my feet. It takes about a week for the skin to start flaking and peeling off, and in that time you shouldn’t apply any creams. I find that soaking feet in warm water every few days helps it peel faster. Once peeled, a foot cream is a must, and this one from Dr. Sole is nice and light and feels refreshing. It isn’t greasy, so it can be used in the morning.
Next up, let’s get body ready! The Nature’s Carnival Butterfly Flower Body Butter smells so light and fresh, and it is really thick and moisturising. I think this is too thick for super hot weather, but would be nicer in the cooler months leading up to Summer. My boyfriend bought me this Pink Chiffon Body Mousse from Bath & Body Works ages ago! It smells amazing, leaves skin with a bit of a shimmer, enough to catch the light, but not look too sparkly, making it perfect for a night out.
Lastly, I have the Sebastian Trilliance Shampoo, Conditioner and Spray. Unfortunately this did absolutely nothing for my hair, except make it feel dry and stringy. I used it once, and couldn’t use it again. It also irritated my scalp. I don’t know if my hair felt dry and stringy because the spray is best used with hot tools, and I air-dried my hair. But either way, not great.
Moving on to skincare…. I have had this new dermalogica *Overnight Retinol Repair 1% for about 3 months, what felt like the longest time, without being able to say anything until it launched. But, it has now launched, and I can finally share it with you. You might remember I shared my thoughts on the original dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair, which is 0.5% and perfect for someone wanting to introduce a retinol product into their routine. For those skin types that are already accustomed to retinol, dermalogica has launched this Clinical Strength 1% option. I love the air-tight pump packaging of the product! The 1% also comes with the buffer cream, which allows you to acclimate your skin at your own pace. Since I have been using this for quite a while now, I no longer use the buffer cream, and can use this two nights in a row without any issues. In the start you may feel a bit of tingling, which is normal, but the results are worth it! I will have a full review soon.
Next up I have a bunch of new skincare, which I will be doing a full post on, but for now, here are my First Impressions.
The *Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water does a great job at removing makup, including waterproof mascara. It doesn’t burn or irritate my eyes, and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.
A new mask on my shelf is the *REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask. I am a huge fan of the Evercalm range, which is suitable for sensitive skin, and works great for me after chemical peels. This mask is soothing and hydrating, and leaves my skin feeling hydrated, destressed and calm. It is suggested to leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, and then remove with a damp cloth, which is where these super soft cloths from Human + Kind come in. The cloths are soft and fluffy, and don’t scratch at my skin.
Another product I have been using to hydrate my skin is this *Hydrating Mango Face Balm from Theravine. I really wish I had known about this during winter when my face was at its most dehydrated. This is such a lovely silky balm, that melts into you skin leaving it feeling nourished but not greasy. I have also found that mixing this with a crushed powder highlighter and applied to the high points of my face, gives the most gorgeous natural glow!
Next up I have this Dr. Gobac Cleanser, it is a milky cleanser that leaves my skin clean but balanced without feeling stripped in any way.
And lastly, you may have seen my review of The Body Shop Drops of Light Range, where I mistakenly forgot the Multi-Protection Essence. Well, I am happy to announce that I have started using it. I love how thin the product is, it truly is an essence. The scent of the product seems quite strong, which burns my eyes slightly. I don’t know if that is just me, or my product, so try it in store and let me know!
I have been trying out a new local skincare range called *Yungskin, the first energy-infused skincare line. Yungskin products are energised using quantum energy science and cellular stimulation principles. Aside from the science, which I find pretty interesting, the texture of these products are to die for! The Sun Care, which was one of my September Favourites, feels like a fluffy cloud resting on your face. And the other two creams has a whipped cream texture that just melts into your skin. I will have a full review up soon with all the details about how this skincare line works.
Next up I have some new Bodyography products that I bought. The Brightening & Balancing Toner can be used a a toner, or a refreshing face mist. I am loving using this before makeup as it perks up my skin while adding hydration. The Daily Cleanser is a bit meh for me, nothing fantastic, but not bad either. I think it is best used to remove makeup as opposed to a normal cleanser. Lastly, the AMAZING Electric Lip Slide, in Pulp Friction and Passion Sorbet. I love love love these! So pigmented, and comfortable. They don’t last that long, as soon as you eat they disappear, but I still love them! I will have a full review with swatches up soon.
I really wanted to hoard all of these products, but alas, I didn’t, aren’t you proud! I will have a full review with swatches up soon, but for now I love the Blush in Savage, love the lipstick in Indian Rose and mostly love the powder in Sable and the Illuminating Highlighting Pen in Lavender Voile. I am on the fence about the Shade and Illuminate and Black Orchid Fragrance.
Summer calls for some new makeup picks, so I dug around my collection and found some new goodies to try out! I will have a full review of these products, with swatches up soon.
The Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener in Dark Peach and Avon Lipstick in Beyond Pink are both lovely picks for summer, and have landed in my September Favourites. You can see swatches over there.
The Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick is really easy to use and creamy. The essence Luminous Matte Bronzer is AMAZING, and I recommend you go have a swatch in store. The Odbo Shimmer Brick is so pigmented, and I cannot believe how much I love this, it may even compare to a Becca Highlighter! The NYX Professional Makeup Blush in Foreplay is so so pretty!
The Blotterazzi is great for those oily days, when you need to blot your face without messing up your makeup. I really think this is a great summer staple, and it is washable! I am a bit on the fence with the essence Instant Matte Setting Spray. It doesn’t full mattify my face, and I find that I end up with more spray on my clothes than on my face, because the range of the spritz is so big.
The Lancome Matte Shaker is really amazing! Super pigmented and long lasting! This shade is Yummy Pink, and it is a perfect bright pink for summer! I was a bit disappointed by the Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick in Violet Plum. It wasn’t very pigmented, and was a bit hard to apply and blend, but I will give it another go. Lastly, a new launch from *Orly is the Breathable Treatment + Color range, which is ICSA approved and available online. This shade in The Antidote doesn’t stain the nails, gives intense colour and doesn’t need a top or base coat!
And last but not least I tried a few new Nude Liquid Lipsticks in September, and you can read my full review with swatches over here.
Thanks for reading ladies, does anything catch your eye?
