Ladies, today I have a little Colourpop Haul to share with you, as well as a Giveaway, so you too can get your hands on some new goodies!
Colourpop is always launching new and exciting products, and I wish I could get my hands on all of it, but unfortunately shipping internationally is always a long and cumbersome, not to mention expensive process. There is usually a minimum value higher than R500 to qualify for free international shipping, which means you will most likely be charged for customs and duties, which then increases your shopping expense by about 40-50%. And that is before the pain of dealing with customs, long shipping times, or worse, your package getting lost along the way.
So, when I was asked by Postbox Courier if I wanted a shipping voucher to try out their service again, all of the new Colourpop products I have been eyeing sprung to mind. Although Colourpop now has International Shipping, many international brands still do not ship to SA, and that’s where third party shipping companies or freight forwarders such as Postbox Courier come in.
Side Note: Even though some companies such as tarte do offer International Shipping, I know of two people who ordered from tarte, and waited and waited for their package and it never came. So, sometimes even International Shipping is not ideal.
Let me give you a quick breakdown from ordering to it arriving at my door…
1) I ordered from Colourpop on the 13th September, with free US shipping, since my order was over $30.
Blotted Lip in Drip
Ultra Blotted Lip in Out Of Beach
Double Play Palette
Rose Quartz Crystal Priming Spray
Aquamarine Crystal Setting Spray
A total of $37 which is just under the customs threshold of R500.
2) They delivered to my US address at Postbox Courier on the 22nd September.
3) I received my package at my door on the 27th September.
That is one working day after it arrived at Postbox Courier in the US! I was also notified all along the way as to the progress of my shipment.
And now, let’s get into the details:
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Postbox Courier provides you with an address in a number of different countries, such as Hong Kong, the UAE, the US and the UK. That address which you will use as your shipping address when placing an order, includes a PB number, which is how they will identify that the package belongs to you. Once you have received a shipping notification or tracking number from the supplier, you notify Postbox Courier by sending a Pre-Alert online, and they will then expect your package. Postbox Courier will accept your package once it arrives, and send it to you in South Africa.
My favourite thing about Postbox Courier is that you can choose to group your packages and send them all at once, which means only one payment! So, say for instance you have orders coming to your US address from ColourPop and tarte, you can choose to group them together and have them sent together to SA, which would save you quite a bit of money.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Registering with Postbox Courier is free, and you can sign up here.
My parcel weighed 0.5 kg, and the *shipping cost was $27 from the US, which worked out to about R360. However 0.5 kg from the UK only costs about R260. You can get a quick quote on their website to have an idea of how much your shipping would cost, based on the weight and/or dimensions.
The cost is a bit more than other freight forwarders, but the service is so much better, and I would gladly pay more for a less frustrating service. Also, because you can group your orders, you can save money by having one shipment to SA instead of two.
Unfortunately as with all incoming parcels, customs is an unpredictable demon and you may or may not be charged customs on your order. I luckily wasn’t charged customs on this order, but I did keep it under R500, although that isn’t a guarantee. I was once charged customs on a R150 order!
Now for the giveaway part, Postbox Courier is giving away a shipping voucher to the value of R1000 to one of my lucky readers!
