Hi Ladies
It is time to jump into some First Impressions of the products I tried out in March… I tried out quite a few products from makeup to skincare to everything in between. If you missed my last First Impressions Post you can check it out here.
Brace yourself, it’s a bit of a long one!
Topshop Makeup is absolutely amazing! I bought these from the international online store, I am not too sure if Topshop in South Africa sells makeup. My favourites are the powder and cream highlighters, the cheek jelly and the two contour creams. The Cheek Jelly in Reign is somewhere between a cheek stain and a cream blush, and I love it. The highlighters are both really really amazing, not too shiny, just glowy and dewy! The Contour Creams are the best contour products I have ever tried I think. They leave the perfect shadow for an amazing contour, no muddiness, no orangeness, just perfectly chiseled cheek bones. The liquid highlighter and blush stick didn’t really do much for me, so they are on my Blog Sale.
If you haven’t heard by now, Urban Decay is coming to South Africa, finally! I bought these Urban Decay products overseas, and here is what I thought. The Naked Illuminated in Luminous is a bit too shimmery for me, I prefer finely milled glowing highlighters, so off to my blog sale it goes. If you like your highlight to be understated, then you should probably give this a pass too. Next up, the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Smoke, Sabbath and Perversion, the pigment and staying power of these are amazing. I definitely think you should give these a try when they launch in SA. I love Sabbath and Perversion, I like my eyes dark and dramatic. Smoke is a bit too light for me, so it has also been added to my blog sale.
*Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer is your winter primer dream come true! This is one of my favourite products as the air gets dryer, and it is part of my Winter Beauty Edit so I won’t go into much detail here.
*Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque is a one stop skin saviour, and was even featured in my March Favourites. No matter what your skin concern is, this masque has got your covered, and your skin will show it’s love from the first use.
I was sent a *Nimue Starter pack by Rubybox a while ago, and I was pretty excited, as I hadn’t tried the brand before. I will be doing a full review of my Nimue experience soon, but my First Impressions so far are good! My favourite product is the sunscreen, and I quite like the exfoliating enzyme too.
The *essie Leggy Legend Autumn Collection is awesome. I have a full review here, so I won’t harp on about it much.
This Village Candle is amazing, and so affordable for the size! But I can’t find them anymore. Anyone know where I can find these candles again?
This Palmer’s Raw Shea Body Lotion is everything! It is a March Favourite too!
And Hask Hair Treatments never disappoint!
*Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate is amazing! I love the scent, and I love being able to use an oil during the day. Although this oil is specifically for the day, I love it so much I use it at night too. It comes with a mess free dropper, and 2-3 drops is all you need, so this bottle will last forever, especially if you only use it during the day.
*Mio The Activist Body Oil is such a treat. I have tried quite a few body oils and this one is by far the most luxurious. It spreads so easily and absorbs so well, while still having a nice viscosity. A little really does go a long way! I also got to try the *Mio Future Proof Body Butter, and I love how moisturising it is. I am reserving this for my hands only though, because I don’t want to run out!
I received two *Almay Mascaras and an *Eyeliner a while ago. I love the eyeliner, it’s pigmented and long lasting and doesn’t tug at all! I love the *One Coat Multi Benefit Mascara, but unfortunately the *One Coat Triple Effect doesn’t do much for my lashes. I bought these Almay lip products a while ago, and the red one is stunning, the nude doesn’t do much so it will be going to my Blog Sale soon.
A seasonal change doesn’t do my nose any good, so I am so thankful for this little box of relief. *Letibalm is so soothing and helps repair my abused nose. If it wasn’t for these two products I don’t know what state my nose would be in!
I tried out some stunning Catrice face products. Let me start with the best of the bunch, the bronzer. Go get yourself one! Seriously, now! It is so so good, and it is a March Favourite. The highlighting pen is pretty nice too, and the darker square blush. The other two product’s didn’t suit my skin tone, so off to the Blog Sale they go.
There are also some exciting new *Maybelline launches which should be in store now. I will be doing a full review on these products soon, but my first impressions are, love the pigment of the Go Chaotic Mascara, love the Master Ink black liquid liner, and love the Dream Velvet foundation! The liquid liner is a March Favourite, and the foundation is a Winter Must Have.
The sadly discontinued Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter, sigh! These are amazing, love the pigment, the moisture and the comfort. Some of the lighter shades didn’t work for me, so they are on my Blog Sale.
MAC Complete Comfort Creme is definitely comforting, it is light and moisturising but rich without being greasy. This is a great creme for sensitive skin and for winter. I love the simple sleek packaging and the matte black lid.
Oh Catrice eyeliners, so affordable, so pigmented so long lasting. I love them all, I will give a brief breakdown of each from top to bottom. Matt Eyeliner, this is so black, so pigmented and so smudge proof, great for a cat eye. The Precision Eyeliner is nice, smooth, long lasting and good pigment.Velvet Matt is amazing, jewel toned, great pigmentation. Kohl Kajal is not as long lasting, and smudges a bit on the water line, so it is best used on the eye lid, but it is smooth and has great pigment. I am still undecided on the Brow Wax, it is a bit weird to use, and doesn’t seem to hold my brows in place!
I received some *essence lip goodies ages ago, and here are my thoughts. The mini sheer lip balm is great, it is a March Favourite too! The Kiss Care Love lipbalm is nice, but I don’t like the colour. The lipgloss set is pretty cute, quite pigmented, great little set.
So, who knew *esssence Mascaras were so awesome! These give my lashes such a great boost, they don’t flake, don’t smudge and add heaps of volume without looking clumpy. The *essence Sheer Lipstick, gives a nice sheer wash of colour and it is non-drying, I like! The *liquid lipstick is fantastic, there are quite a few shades available, and it is definitely worth a swatch. The shade Show Off was a December Favourite. Lastly, the *essence matt blush is pretty nice too, it doesn’t look flat, dry or chalky, which I am always afraid of with matt products.
See anything you wanna try out?

I recently bought the PINK I love extreme mascara from Essence – really awesome product!?
The mascaras are awesome. I do think Catrice has better mascaras, but Essence is not far behind.
So so many cool products featured in this post. Pity the Urban Decay highlighter is so shimmery though. When I first saw it I loved it but I also prefer understated to looking like a glitter ball.
Thanks Abby. Yip I wanna have a glow, not a glitter ☺
