February First Impressions

It is time for my February First Impressions! It seems as if the number of items in my First Impressions posts are getting less and less, or is it just me? Anyway I have mostly makeup to share with you this month, and one awesome treatment.

First up is this cute Kevyn Aucoin Essential Starter Kit. Unfortunately this brand is not available in SA, but I have wanted to try the Celestial Powder forever, so I thought this kit would be a great chance to do that. The Celestial Powder in Candlelight is a really stunning understated ethereal highlighter. The Creamy Glow in Bloodroses is a lip and cheek cream that is super pigmented and comfortable to wear. The Matte Bronzing Veil in Desert Nights is a matte bronzer, but I found it a bit too warm for me. The Essential Mascara was really dry, I like my mascara dry, but this was really dry, I think I may have gotten a bad one. Lastly, the Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Bloodroses is stunning, I have been using this to line my lips, and then apply a lip oil over for a glossy pigmented stain.

Next I have a couple of products I featured in my Nude Beauty Edit. The Maybelline blush and OFRA highlighter are my favourites, but you can read my full review and see swatches in the post.

Next I have some nude liquid lipsticks. I love Dose of Colors in Truffle, Kat Von D in Lolita and Jeffree Star in Celebrity Skin. The Colourpop Hello Kitty in Tiny Chum doesn’t suit me, so it is going to my blog sale here. I am still undecided on the Girlactik in Bashful and Kylie Koko K, but in all likelihood they will be going to the blog sale too.

Still with the lipsticks, I tried a couple of new red lip picks, and for a full review and swatches you can check out my Red Lip Picks post.

Jeffree Star

Remember my January First Impressions I tried out all of the new essence products I had in my stash, well this month it was time for Catrice.

I really like the Healthy Look Mattifying Powder, it brightens and sets the under eye area. The Luxury Lips Oils are really nice, and work well to hydrate the lips. The Highlighter is AMAZING, and everyone needs to try it!

The Blush Palette is okay, I like the darkest shade, but I am still deciding on the other two more shimmery shades.

The Highlighting Eyeshadows are great, but I don’t see myself using them over my entire lid, just on the inner corner.

And the Volumizing Lip Booster is okay too.

The Lumiere Eyeshadow is amazing! The Strobing Highlighter gives a nice highlight without being too glittery or shiny. The Smokey Matt Powder Liner is great! It works on the lid and below the waterline for pigmented precise eyeshadow application. I am also loving the Lip Contour & Colour, I love the liner more than the gloss though.

I am a bit disappointed in the Allround Contouring Palette, I find the texture very thin and it just disappears on me.

Lastly, the two Prime and Fine Contouring Palettes are okay, but I hardly contour anymore these days. The highlighter is matte, and the bronzer is a little bit too warm, but it works as a bronzer to warm the face.

I was also treated to an amazing *DMK Medi Pedi at Sorbet Greenstone, which I loved, and you can read all about here.

Lastly, these masks from *Little Eskimo have really come in handy to cool and calm my skin in the hot summer. Think of it as an ice pack for your face and eyes.
