November Favourites, Empties and a Fail!

Hi Ladies

This month I have quite a few favourites, four empties, and a very disappointing fail!

South African Beauty Blog Prettiful Blog

Let’s start with the good…

Fennel Mango Sugar Body Scrub: This scrub is so good, it is gritty without being harsh, and it smells amazing! I love Fennel Body Butters, and now the scrubs too. The best thing about this brand is the price, it is so affordable! The body butters and scrubs are around R35 and you can find them at Dischem, in the most yummy fragrances! They also have a range of dessert scented body yoghurts. The tubs are sealed, so you can’t smell them in store, which is great from a hygiene perspective, but sucks when you need to choose a scent. In my opinion the body butters in Cucumber Melon, Cherry Blossom, Olive Oil and Passion Fruit are the best. You can read my review on the Olive Oil Body Butter here. I haven’t tried any of the other scrubs, but I would definitely recommend Mango!

Vichy Purifying Foaming Water Radiance Revealer: That name was a mouthful! Foaming cleansers are usually too harsh and drying on my skin, but this one is really really good. It is for sensitive skin, but I think all skin types could use it. I use this daily in the shower, and even when I am too lazy to pre-cleanse this leaves my face spotless without feeling dry or tight. I am not too sure about it revealing radiance, but it definitely makes my face look and feel good! I bought this at Clicks, but Vichy is available at Dischem too.

Nature’s Carnival African Sun Triple Moisture Body Cream*: One word, LOVE! This cream is amazing, the scent, the moisture, everything. I received a couple of products from Nature’s Carnival a while ago, you can check out more on the products here. This is a really great moisturiser, it is rich without being greasy. This brand is so affordable, and I definitely have my eye on some other products and scents. You can find Nature’s Carnvial on Takealot.com and Zando.

Skoon Super Moisturiser The One*: This is a really amazing basic moisturiser! It is so moisturising without being greasy, oily or clogging pores. I have been using this day and night. I love that Skoon allows you to cater to your skins needs by making a unique moisturiser in a second. All you have to do is add a couple of drops of one of the Concentrates to your chosen Moisturiser, blend well and apply. Skoon is availabe online here. You can read about other Skoon products here and here.

Skoon Concentrate Rosehip C+*: This concentrate is packed with rosehip and vitamin c, making it your own powerful weapon against Mature/Very Dry Skin, Scarring and Winter Skin. When my skin needs a little TLC, I add this to The One, and massage it into my skin. This is definitely a treat for my skin!

Skoon Concentrate Glowdrops*: When my skin is feeling a bit dull, I add a couple of drops of Glowdrops to the Super Moisturiser The One and it really helps to bring out a glow and increase hydration and plumpness.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Lip Tint: I had forgotten about this product for a while, but it is all coming back to me now. I worked at Estee Lauder for a couple of weeks, after matric and before university, where I was first introduced to this product. It is a lovely tint, in stunning packaging, and I knew I had to have it. I eventually bought it for myself, and at the time it was my biggest makeup splurge. Sadly, these were discontinued, so I will treasure this!

Avene thermal spring water review

Avene Thermal Spring Water*: Well, this is a skin lifesaver! Feeling hot, spritz! Feeling sensitive, spritz! After cleansing, spritz! After shaving, spritz! Allergic reaction, spritz! After makeup, spritz! Those are all the reasons I use Avene Thermal Spring Water, but believe me there are many more uses! This is my new can’t live without product, and I will definitely be repurchasing once this one is finished. Avene is available at Clicks. You can read more about my thoughts on other Avene products here.

Essence Vintage District Blush It’s Popul-art: This blush from Essence Vintage District Trend Edition is amazing. I originally bought it because it looked so pretty! There was a gold overspray, which has since disappeared, but has left a stunning deep peach colour with the design still intact. I love mixing the two shades together for a subtle peach glow. Unfortunately this Trend Edition is no longer available, but be sure to check out the new Trend Edition Merry Berry here. Below is what the blush looked like with the gold. Pretty ain’t it?

Sorbet Salon Skin Cleansing Oil: Unfortunately this was a fail for me. I had high hopes for this product, since the rest of the Salon Skin Range is amazing! I love oil cleansers, I love massaging them into my skin, then adding water and removing. This oil, like most other oil cleansers is meant to emulsify when you add water, and then rinse off. But it never did, it left a layer of oil that water alone could not remove, my skin felt dirtier after using this. I had to remove this with a face cloth every time. I don’t know if I just bought a dud, or if this cleanser just doesn’t do what it is meant to.

Lastly, my empties!

Dirty Works Body Wash: I was using this as a hand soap. Yes, I use body washes as hand washes, they are cheaper, smell nicer and have a greater range. I like the scent of this, it is a great affordable body/hand wash.

Oh So Heavenly Blossom Bliss Hand Butter: I did a full review on this here, so I won’t go into much detail. I really like this hand butter, it is nice and thick and moisturising.

Creightons Lime and Grapefruit Shower Burst: This has a nice, fresh scent, a great wake me up body/hand wash.

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue: I bought quite a few of these a while ago, and I really enjoyed this one. It doesn’t have any tint, and it is really moisturising.

The Avene Thermal Spring Water is still on my shopping list. Do you have a suggestion for affordable facial serum for dry, mature and sensitive skin??

I really like hydraluron, you can find it at Clicks. It is by Indeed Labs. I think it’s about R150, but they often have specials.

There is a picture of Hydraluron on my Great Bargains page. I actually found it for R50 a while ago.
