Do you know what time it is? I’ll tell you! It is time for June First Impressions. My quick thoughts on the products I tested out in June. I’ll start with the products that don’t have full reviews yet, and end with a round-up of the products featured in full reviews.
I bought the Beauscience Vitamin Super Cream quite a while ago, and I wasn’t quite sure if it was for body or face. Turns out, it is for both, and can be used both day and night. I have been using it on my hands, but I find that it is not moisturising enough for winter.
I received these sample from Lulu & Marula when I bought a few of their products at Kamersvol. The Calming and Energising Body Balm both smell amazing and melt into the skin. I love the scent of the Calming Balm, it smells so floral and exotic. The Energising Balm has a refreshing citrus scent. I have been using the Calming one on my hands before bed, and it does a good job of caring for my winter hands, without being greasy. I definitely have the full size on my wishlist.
I bought this Africa Organics Baobab Clay Wash from Dischem because I was quite intrigued by a foaming clay body wash. It has a light citrus scent, and doesn’t try out my skin at all. It cleanses well and leaves my skin feeling refreshed.
I received the *Lipidol Overnight Face Oil a while ago. This is a great but affordable hydrating overnight facial oil. It isn’t greasy, absorbs into the skin and has some noteworthy skincare ingredients, including rosehip oil and retinyl palmitate which is a mild but non-irritating form of retinol.
I received The Body Shop Drops of Light Serum a while ago, but I wanted to buy the rest of the range before writing a review. I finally have all the products I want, so I will hopefully have a review up soon. So far, the cleanser is slightly too drying for me. The essence is lovely, although thicker than I expected, and has a slight tacky feeling at first. I really like the moisturiser, it feels silky on the skin and absorbs well. My favourite product of the bunch is the liquid peel, I noticed a visible difference in my skin after one use.
Winter calls for lip oils, and I have a post on a few of my favourites coming up soon. Two new ones I have started using is the Gosh Lip Oil in Raspberry and the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Oil in Timeless Coral. The Gosh one is pretty thin, and doesn’t leave much of a tint, but it moisturises nicely and doesn’t feel sticky on my lips. The Josie Maran one is so pigmented for an oil, and I love it! It is a creamy oil that sits nicely on my lips, and leaves behind a pretty stain.
I was sent a whole bunch of the new *L’Oreal Makeup Launches, and overall I was impressed! My favourites are definitely the lip products and eyeliners. Both the Color Riche Lipsticks and Infallible Lip Paints are comfortable and amazing. The Infallible Gel Crayon is so pigmented and once they set, they don’t budge, so it works well on the water line. The False Lash Superstar Mascara is nice too, but I am not a fan of two-step or fiber mascaras.
The new *essie Gel Setter 3D Pop Tint gives a super glossy long lasting manicure with extra dimension colour. I did a full review with swatches here.
When winter comes around, I definitely feel the need to treat my body a bit more, which is where these products came in. I have a review of these products already, but the Soy Lites and Jasmine Daydream candles are definitely worth another mention!
A few new Catrice products landed at my door, and I bought a few more that I wanted to try. The Lip Cushion, Eyeshadow Palette and Luminizers are amazing! There is a full review with swatches over here.
I have a few products that I have been relying on to keep me from pulling my hair out. The *Bhave Supernova is a leave-in treatment that makes my hair look and feel great. Trichotin Hair Regenesis is my little pot of miracles that has reduced my hair fall and improved my overall hair and skin condition. The Philip Kingsley No Scent No Colour Range is designed for sensitive scalps, and it didn’t irritate mine at all, although on the other hand it didn’t soothe it either. I also miss the scent of nice smelling hair! You can read my full review here.
In Winter, my hands need all the help they can get, which is why I pulled out the big guns. I love The Body Shop Hand Wash, a great non-drying option for winter. The Hemp Hand Protector and essie Serum keep my hands soft and moisturised. You can read my full review here.
When I received the *Connie Transform Liquid Lipsticks I didn’t have high hopes, but boy was I wrong. These are amazing! So light and comfortable on the lips, but still so matte and pigmented.
The *essie Winter Collection is one of my favourite seasonal collections so far, thanks to the variety. My favourites are Satin Sister- peacock teal creme and Ready to Boa- warm bronzed mahogany.
Lastly, I have a few products that are helping me Fake It this Winter, bronzer, concealer, as well as skincare must-haves. You can read my Winter Edit here.
I know this was a long post, so if you made it to the end, thank you! See any products you want/need?
