A Bronze and Bright Summer Makeup Edit

Warmer weather calls for a makeup switch! So, today I am bringing you A Bronze and Bright Summer Makeup Edit! Think sunkissed cheeks (faked of course, because the sun is bad for you) and bright lips!

I love a cream eyeshadow stick for summer, it is so easy to apply and usually lasts quite long. But I was a bit disappointed by the Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick in Violet Plum. It was a bit hard and stiff to apply and not very easy to blend either. It also wasn’t very pigmented once blended in. I will give it a few more tries before I completely give up. On the plus side, it is long lasting!

The Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick is really creamy and easy to use. It gives quite good medium coverage, and can be built up or sheered out to your preference. I find stick foundations are so handy when travelling!

Dark circles are one of my biggest problems, and the best way to hide it, is with a peach or salmon corrector. So, when I saw this Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener in Dark Peach I knew I had to give it a try, and I am so glad I did. It is really light and thin, so it doesn’t crease, but it disguises my dark circles really well. Also, because it isn’t too orange, I can get away with using this without a concealer over, which is great for summer, one less step to melt off my face in the intense heat. I just set it with a bit of powder, and I am good to go! It even made it into my September Favourites.

The essence Luminous Matte Bronzer in Sunglow is AMAZING.  It reminds me a lot of the Lights of Orient bronzer which is a favourite of mine, but was part of the limited Trend Edition. It is a matte but luminous bronzer, don’t ask me how that works, but it just does! It adds a warm glow to the face without being too harsh, too orange or too shimmery.

Next up we have the NYX Professional Makeup Blush in Foreplay, which gives a perfect flush to the cheeks. It is so so pretty, not too heavy and not too bright. The texture of the blush is smooth and it blends easily.

We cannot forget a highlighter for Summer. The Odbo Shimmer Brick is so pigmented, and I cannot believe how much I love this, it may even compare to a Becca Highlighter! It is so finely milled yet so intense, with no glitter in sight, it actually looks like a cream highlighter. If an intense highlighter isn’t for you, this can definitely still be sheered out with some blending.

I am sure you knew a bright lipstick was coming, this AVON Lipstick in Beyond Pink is the perfect Summer lipstick, it is smooth and long lasting, and comfortable on the lips, and just look at that colour! I really really like this creamy formula and definitely want to check out a few more shades.

And if super bright is more your thing, here I have the Lancôme Matte Shaker in Yummy Pink. When these launched, I expected it to be a sheer tint, similiar to the Juicy Shaker, but matte, boy was I wrong! The pigment is amazing, it is comfortable and long lasting, and I really can’t fault it in any way.

If you have an oily skin type, or find your makeup doesn’t last in the heat, then The Blotterazzi will be your best friend. Think of it as reusable blotting paper or face powder. It soaks up any oil, without interfering with your makeup. I really think this is a great summer staple! Although its sister, the Beauty Blender should be used wet, this should definitely be used dry!

Next up I have the essence Instant Matte Setting Spray. I find the spritz of this to be quite strange, the diameter of it is wider than my entire face, and I end up with more product on my clothes than on my face. I also find that it doesn’t fully mattify my face. I much prefer the original essence Setting Spray. One thing I do like though, is that this can also be used as a primer before makup application.

Lastly, a new launch from *Orly is the Breathable Treatment + Color range, which is ICSA approved and available online. This shade in The Antidote doesn’t stain the nails, gives intense colour and doesn’t need a top or base coat! But, my favourite thing about this is, two coats dried in less than 30 minutes! I mean fully dried, I pressed my nails with my fingertips and no marks and no dents! Although this colour isn’t super summery, the range is with it’s quick drying and breathable formula. This lasted 5 full days on my fingernails without a chip which is quite impressive considering no base or top coat was applied.

I loved your post and your honest opinions on products. I am totally with you on the Essence bronzer wagon – it is brilliant and one of my favourites! I’ve never tried a stick foundation before, but you are so right that it is super convenient for travelling. Going to try a stick foundation asap!

Yip, I am loving the bronzer! I think I actually bought both the light and dark versions, so keen to try out the lighter one too!
Yes, try it, just a few swipes on the face, and a quick blend and done! Revlon also has a pretty good one.
