The most romantic thing I’ve done… Well becoming parents really puts a strain on your romantic life. When hubby was working late and the budget was extra tight because we have to provide for another human being. This usually happened after supper- so we would eat and off he would go to make some extra money.

In the meantime I sorted out baby, put him to bed and made some platters, all his favourite snacks, salt biscuits, tuna, cheese, mussels, biltong, juice for me and beer for him. I would take the make up out of storage(LOL) and dress up, put a blanket on the floor. By the time he got home everything was ready and we just had a simple little picnic, just the 2 of us.

It’s easy to forget the romantic things in life when life just gets in the way, baby, work. And there’s not always money for date night, so we just did a DIY date night. We still do it and romance is what you make of it. Whether you go all out in a restaurant or just a small intimate party for 2.

His a guy who loves his tools, so I made him a basket / bouquet of tools for his actual birthday, and then a surprise getaway on the weekend to do all the things he loves.

Taking my partner to a romantic spot on the beach. at sunset, creating the most romantic setting, the time when the sky is filled with it’s “beautiful Red Colour!” I prepared a Sumptious home made dinner with GOLDEN DELIGHT Rice, for us. This included my favourite dish “Lamb for Lovers”, not forgetting a bottle of chilled drink in an ice bucket. I then had our favourite flowers & candles spread all over the place and Spelled out “I LOVE YOU” in flowers on the ground, with a little gift laying inside the heart. With romantic music playing in the background and after dinner I will ask him for a dance & while dancing I would whisper words of love to him ! Oh! What a GOLDEN moment it was for us, when we ended the evening by a Bonfire, with a couple of blankets & lots of pillows on the floor and feed each other with chocolate covered strawberries & whipped cream! While bundling up under the blankets all comfy & relaxed, we will gaze into each others eyes & laying underneath the shining stars! I have tweeted @rehanaseedat

I ordered a personalised photo book online filled with photos from our first date until our 1st anniversary. I also baked mini cupcakes and used a chocolate pen to write happy 1st anniversary 🙂

One of the most romantic things I’ve done for my husband was to cook him all his favourite foods for our anniversary, lit some candles and we had a nice quiet evening eating at a low table sitting on the flood. Good food and great conversation, what more could you ask for ? (tweeted!)

Took him horse riding then a picnic basket filled with all his fave things like chocolate, chicken liver pate, sangria and relaxed at the dam 🙂

I took him on a trip to St Lucia last summer. We drank champagne on a boat cruise and fished…we both love fishing. It may not seem too romantic but it’s how we met, fishing =)

I wrote him a short, cute messages on sticky notes and stuck it in an unexpected place for him to find.

I’ve done a bunch of romantic things and I’m never quite sure they’ve fully succeeded – thoughtful gifts, sweet notes, mixtapes, massages, reminding them of their mother’s birthdays, flying to see him, driving to see him, you know, the usual stuff. Most meaningful romantic thing that stands out for me, I had to leave a pair of shoes at home to bring a jar of Marmite back for my ex. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is. I am following @RevlonSA on Twitter, and I have shared this giveaway on Twitter too (@flutterbymegs). Fingers crossed.

Most romantic thing: Back when we first started our relationship and we didnt always have money to go on lavish dates. I cooked a 3 course meal for my then boyfriend (and cooking is a major thing for me as i dont cook often lol)
We had our date on the sundeck of my parents house under a beautiful starry sky. Part of the evening’s conversation was that we should end our relationship as my hubbys (then boyfriend) business was taking a turn and he couldnt offer me everything he wanted to. We spoke for hours and realised that if we had each other nothing could stand in our way or trample our spirits. 6 years later we are married and fighting our battles together as well as celebrating our wins.
