I have been trying out a few Liquid Lipsticks that I bought recently, A Nude, Bright and In-Between. Aside from the obvious difference in shade, the formula, finish and staying power of these differ quite a lot. This post will focus less on the shades (although I do love them all) and more on the formula of the lipsticks.
I have the NYX Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo and Palladio Velvet Matte in Jacquard.
This is the first NYX Lip Lingerie I have tried for a significant amount of time. I had read a few reviews saying they are drying, but I must say they aren’t too bad if you prep your lips before. It dried down fully matte and didn’t transfer at all once dry. I also bought two other shades, Exotic and Bedtime Flirt and I am really looking forward to trying them now! The range features different shades of nude, so if you like anything bright, this is not for you. I found the only shades that would suit me are the three I bought, the rest make me look a bit dead.
I have a love/hate relationship with the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. They are extremely pigmented but I find some shades are quite drying and settle into my lips. This however is not the case with San Paulo luckily. I also think the newer packaged ones are more comfortable than the old ones. Another favourite shade of mine from this range is Cannes, but the formula is not the best. The shade Stockholm has one of the best formulas in my opinion. The Soft Matte Lip Cream doesn’t dry down fully matte, but lasts long while still being relatively comfortable. My lips do need to be prepped though! I love that there is a huge shade range, from nudes to brights to in-betweens.
Lastly is the Palladio Velvet Matte which has a soft runny mousse texture, and is the most comfortable out of the bunch, but it doesn’t last as long or dry down. It is so pigmented though, and doesn’t flake, so touching up is a breeze, and I have no idea why I took so long to try this. It doesn’t dry matte, and has more of a soft matte velvet finish, which I guess is why it is called Velvet Matte. There is quite a good shade range and I think someone who hates the drying feeling of a liquid lipstick would love these!
Above you can see swatches about 5-10 minutes after application. You can see the NYX Lip Lingerie has a full matte finish and has dried down completely. The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream has dried down to a soft matte finish and the Palladio Velvet Matte has hardly dried down at all. All three are gorgeously pigmented though!
Below is the transfer test which I did 40 minutes after applying the swatches. The NYX Lip Lingerie did not transfer at all which is pretty amazing. The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream transferred slightly but is still quite impressive. The Palladio Velvet Matte has fully transferred however the swatch still looked quite intact after the transfer test, so you will be leaving lip stains all over, but your lips won’t be left with nothing on them at least.
I was really impressed with all of these, and I guess it comes down to what you are looking for in a Liquid Lipstick. Longevity. Finish. Comfort. Pigment.
Have you tried any of these Liquid Lipsticks?

They Are all very beautiful! The nyx soft Matt lip Cream is the one I really want to try out!
Thanks for commenting Esra. The Soft Matte is a hit and miss, so best to try it out in store first I think.
The NYX Lingerie is on my shopping list for quite some time now .?l.?
I would not not go for the Palladio one – I like my lipstick a bit more matte
Thanks for the review 🙂
I am surprised at the Lingerie, I really liked it, and I am sure you will love all the nude shades!
