When I was asked if I wanted to review The Original MakeUp Eraser, I thought why not. I had seen these while browsing Sephora online, and had always wondered Does the MakeUp Eraser Work? How can a cloth remove all traces of makeup with only water, and no cleanser? Surely there must be a catch… Is it just a glorified face cloth? Well, read on to find out!
I was sent a *pink one and a *black one, but they come in other colours as well as different sizes.
Before you use it for the first time, you need to wash it. I just throw mine in the washing machine, but you can also handwash it.
There are three simple easy steps when removing makeup with the MakeUp Eraser. One thing to note, is that there are two different sides to the cloth. One side has a short nap, and the other side has a fluffy longer nap as well as the MUE name tag.
1) Wet about half of the cloth with warm water, it should be soaking wet.
2) Gently wipe your face with the short nap side in circular motions to remove the makeup. You can also wipe your eyes as the cloth is super soft and gentle.
3) Then flip over to the long nap side to remove the last traces of makeup as well as to exfoliate.
So, does the MakeUp Eraser work? Yes! After using the MakeUp Eraser and water on my face, eyes and lips, I used micellar water on a cotton pad and only found minimal traces of makeup. Even my mascara and matte liquid lipstick were mostly removed. On nights when I have worn heavy makeup, I use this as a pre-cleanse, before cleansing with a cleanser. For everyday makeup, this does a great job at removing everything!
To be honest I am really surprised by the MakeUp Eraser, and I don’t know exactly how it does it, but it does remove everything with only water! I have since bought another one, and I now have three in rotation!

Yup definitely do! It’s a game changer. 😉
Awesome, I always wondered if it really works. There are also so many dupes / replicas around. Thanks for the honest review Azraa x
Pleasure Lucinda. Yup It really does work, and I think it’s a good way to remove makeup before cleansing.
