September was a tough month in SA with a focus on GBV and so my posts took a back seat as me and the country struggled to come to terms with the dire situation. I found myself going down a dark hole after reading and sharing the stats and stories with no motivation or want to blog. It took a while for me to feel better, and I do now, but I do not want to forget about the countless women and girls who have lost their lives, so I am sharing this link with a few stats, stories as well as a video on Uyinene.
I did not have any August monthly posts; hauls, favourites and first impressions, so I will be combining August and September this month. So, here are my August/September Beauty Favourites and Empties.
First up we have this gorgeous bright, neon look polish from *Orly called Surfer Dude. This is a perfect pedi shade, and I am so happy with it, it is opaque in two very thin coats, and now all I need is a sandy beach.
I also have a few makeup options, more than usual, and mostly rediscovered products.
The *Almay Age Essentials Concealer in 200 covers up dark circles well, without creasing and making my under eye area look old and wrinkly.
The *L’Oreal Brow Artist Maker in Dark Brunette has a little brush on the end and fills brows well for a natural full look. It can be a bit intense, but I found that lining the bottom of my brow and then blending upward works best.
The HD Chubby Lip Crayon in Secret is pigmented, long lasting and a really pretty shade, but most of all it is so affordable!
Last, but definitely not least, is this beautiful Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder in 03 Brunettes from Guerlain. This gives skin a beautiful sunkissed glow, and I have been using it in place of bronzer and blush. Want to look like you have just been on an exotic island frolicking in the sun, well, this is the product.
And now for some Empties:
Sephora Upside-Down Mascara- I like the idea of this, but it made my lashes a bit clumpy, perhaps if the formula was a bit drier or thinner, would not repurchase.
Lush Twilight Shower Gel- I am obsessed with the Twilight Scent, and would absolutely repurchase!
Skin Creamery The Everyday Cream- I love everything about this, except for the price. I already have a new one of these, and would probably repurchase once I finish a few others I have in my stash.
*Elizabeth Arden Lip Protectant Stick LE– I adore this range, and I already have a new tub of this waiting, so I would probably repurchase this.
Avon Makeup Setting Spray- I really like this setting spray, and may repurchase once I get through a few of the others I have. It prolongs makeup, but could be a bit drying for dry skin types.
I feel so accomplished by this lot of emtpies!
The Body Shop Polynesian Island Tiare Shower Gel- I have said this before and will say it again, if they ever bring back this range, I would definitely repurchase! Luckily I still have a perfume, and a back up perfume in this scent.
*Dermalogica Calm Water Gel– I adore this, everything from the texture and scent, to how it leaves my skin feeling plump and hydrated. I would definitely repurchase.
*Sorbet Dry Shampoo- This is okay, but there are better options, I wouldn’t repurchase.
*Almay Makeup Remover Pads- This works well, but I wouldn’t repurchase.
*Elizabeth Arden Skin Illuminating Brightening Hydragel Cream– I love how light this moisturiser is, and I may repurchase at some point, but if I had to choose, I would rather repurchase the Visible Difference Hydragel, one of my top moisturisers of all time!
*Gatineau AHA Body Lotion- I love the scent and milky texture of this, it is so light but hydrating! I may repurchase once I get through my stash.
*Argan Green Body Butter– I like this, but it isn’t the best I have tried, so I probably wouldn’t repurchase.
Balm Balm Bath & Body Oil- I love the scent of this, but I prefer some other oils, so I wouldn’t repurchase.
Supergoop Setting Mist- I love this, and would probably repurchase, I already have a travel size. There are other more accessible options now, although they don’t give the same finish.
Kalahari Ultra Rich Skin Complex and Lipid Plus Recovery- I enjoyed both of these products a lot, but not for my face, I used them on my hands and feet. I am not too sure of the price, but if it wasn’t too much I would probably repurchase.
