August First Impressions

I am so exhausted these days, I don’t know what it is, but I just feel sluggish and non-energetic, and I cannot wait for December.  Today I am sharing my August First Impressions with you, a quick review of my initial thoughts on the new products I am trying out.

Sorbet Hair Care Review

First up we have the new hair range from *Sorbet, as well as the new book launch ‘The Soul of Sorbet’. Unfortunately the Shampoo and Conditioner did nothing for my dry, damaged hair. The conditioner specifically was not thick or rich enough for my hair. But, I do love the Dry Shampoo, I love the scent, and how it doesn’t feel icky on my hair. It absorbs oil well and leaves my hair looking refreshed and without any white cast.

First Impressions Lush Haul

I received a bunch of yummy *Lush goodies recently, and I am in love! I will have a full review up soon, but for now here are my first impressions.

I love the Ultrabland Cleanser, it removes makeup and dirt well, but is so gentle on the skin. Eau Roma is hydrating and soothing, and I adore the scent. Skin’s Shangri La is quite rich, and works best on dry, dehydrated and aging skin types, it is too rich for me for daily use. I love using this as an overnight mask twice a week to hydrate and nourish my skin.

Oh my gosh the Soak and Float Shampoo Bar is the best thing I have tried this year, I love the scent and how it lathers, and how soft and clean it leaves my hair, without irritating my scalp. The Sugar Daddy-O Solid Conditioner works well on my ends to leave my hair feeling soft, but I think the Soak and Float by itself leaves my hair softer. The Damaged Hot Oil Treatment looks and smells good enough to drink, and I love having to stir it like Belgian Hot Chocolate. It made such a huge difference to my hair, and brought back memories of my mom and I doing VO5 Hot Oil Treatments when I was a kid. There was a bit leftover, which I put in a bottle, and have been using as a conditioner.

Lastly I have two body products. The Buffy Body Butter Scrub, which is such an easy to use 2 in 1 product! Massaged on to wet skin in the shower it exfoliates, but also hydrates thanks to shea butter. So, no need to still moisurise when getting out! Tender is the Night is a solid body moisturiser/massage bar, and it smells incredible. I love floral scents, especially jasmine, so this is right up my alley! It melts nicely into the skin, and absorbs well.

First Impressions- South African Skincare

I have been trying out a few new products from *South African Brands both new to me and some old favourites. I will have a full review of these products up soon.

The Beaucience Masque is a great all in one mask that hydrates, but also deep cleanses thanks to the inclusion of Kaolin. I am really enjoying the BaoCare Radiance Oil. It is nourishing and hydrating, and leaves my skin looking plump without feeling greasy. The Nirvana Natural Bliss Brightening Facial Moisturiser has such a wonderful texture and is enriched with amino acids and peptides for bright, glowing skin. I adore the Theravine Mango Face Balms. The Clarifying option is hydrating and nourishing, but reduces clogged pores, leaving skin looking clearer.

The Deep Cleansing Face Wash from SIX Skincare is such a star cleanser for blemish or acne prone skin! It contains tea tree oil, salicylic acid, licorice and rose hip oil which makes it an effective but gentle cleanser, suited for teenage skin. Another product from SIX Skincare is the Vitamin C Moisturising Cream, a lovely daily moisturiser enriched with vitamin c to brighten the skin and reduce pigmentation.

SKNLogic was one of the first local skincare brands I tried years ago, and I have been hooked ever since. The Gentle Cleanse Cream is a perfect second cleanse, or morning cleanser, as it is nourishing and gentle but still removes impurities. The Hydrating Serum is so lightweight, but somehow manages to make my dehydration lines disappear! But, my favourite product is the Multi Active Lotion, enriched with fruit enzymes, this overnight treatment leaves my skin looking refined, brighter and smoother by morning!

MRP Candles Review

I adore scented candles, especially when they are affordable! I have been trying a few new ones that I bought from MRP Home, and I am impressed. They all burn well, don’t pool and the scents of most are pretty impressive. The Sage & Sea Salt is my favourite, it is a bit sweeter than the Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt. I love it, I have even bought backups. The Jasmine & Wood has a very oriental floral scent, and is quite nice, but not my favourite. The Ginger Rose is lovely, but the scent doesn’t carry through as much as the others, until you get about halfway through the candle. I love Cinnamon and Apple, it is a very cosy scent, but the bottle is very hard to work with. This Jasmine & Magnolia packaging is not only stunning, but the scent is amazing, I adore this one, it is also one of my favourites.

Cacharel Yes I Am

I love scents, so when the new *Cacharel, Yes I Am fragrance arrived at my door, I could not be happier. Firstly, let’s just look at that bottle, how stunning! This scent is hard to describe, it is a spicy floral, strong but delicate scent, and was created to honour strong and independant women. I will have a full review up soon, but for now you can pick it up for 20% off at Foschini.

Thursday Plantation Acne Range

I have reviews of both the new range from *Thursday Plantation, as well as the *COLAB Dry Shampoo and Wet Brush seen below.
