Is there anyone in the world who wouldn’t want brighter, more even skin? I don’t think so! I have been trying quite a few new products as well as treatments to reduce my acne scarring and even out and brighten the skin. I am also starting to see the signs of pigmentation, and I am doing all that I can to stop and reverse that! So, today I am sharing my recent favourite duo for brighter skin.
When I think of brighter, more even skin, Vitamin C immediately comes to mind. Vitamin C has a wide range of skincare benefits, which I have listed below:
PROTECTION AGAINST ENVIRONMENTAL AGGRESSORS AND FREE RADICALS
Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant and protects the skin against free radicals and environmental aggressors, like sun and pollution, and even cigarette smoke. It helps to protect the skin from the toxins it is exposed to, as well as future damage, and it intensifies the protection of sunscreen.
COLLAGEN PRODUCTION
Vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen which gives skin that firm, plump and youthful look and minimises the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.
REDUCTION OF UNEVENNESS/SCARRING
Vitamin C can help fade skin discolourations and scars as well as even the skin tone and reduce inflammation. It also helps the skin repair itself by encouraging cell renewal, preventing the loss of elasticity and increasing moisture retention, giving the skin a smoother, more even look.
The only downside to Vitamin C is its instability, luckily the *dermalogica biolumin-c serum (R1495) combines an ultra-stable Vitamin C complex with advanced bio-technology, which means that you are actually getting the actives into your skin, as opposed to it disintegrating when exposed to air. What sets this serum apart from the rest is the addition of Lactic Acid, which gently exfoliates dull skin, for a brighter look. This is a lovely Vitamin C starter serum, it is non-irritating with its milky texture and helps to protect the skin from environmental aggressors and reduce pigmentation while firming and brightening dull skin.
Tip: You can ensure that the shelf life of your vitamin C products are increased by closing the lids tightly and ensuring minimal air exposure, and keeping them in a cool dark place, the fridge works perfectly! Also, packaging is important, so look for airtight bottles, pumps and single-use packaging which will will preserve your product better.
There is no point in treating uneven skin tone and pigmentation without taking steps to prevent it. And the best way to do that is by protecting yourself from the sun. I am really good about applying sunscreen in the mornings, whether I am indoors (minimum spf30) or out (minimum spf50), but what I am not so good at, is reapplying. Who wants to slather white sunscreen over their makeup in the middle of the day? Well, that is why I have been loving the *Filorga UV Bronze Mist SPF 50 (R520). This aerosol sprays a super fine mist and leaves skin with a healthy bronze glow. It hydrates, doesn’t interfere with makeup and smells absolutely glorious. I would bathe in the scent if I could! It reminds me a lot of the Nuxe Prodigieux le parfum.
I have kindly been sent quite a few Filorga products, and I have been impressed, so I have just bought myself the Skin-Absolute Day Cream, and I am excited to give it a go. I also have the Night Cream, Meso-Mask and Sleep and Peel products on my wishlist, along with anything else from the UV range, just for the scent!
