A Summer Makeup Edit

I know Summer is still a few months away, but the weather is starting to warm up, so I thought I would share a Summer Makeup Edit with you. Light and bright is the way I like my Summer Makeup Look!

Summer Makeup Edit

The original erborian BB Cream remains one of my favourites, so when I saw the Liquid BB Creme Makeup-Care Cushion Compact in Dore, I had to buy it. The coverage is light, but buildable, with a dewy finish. The little puff that is included is terrible to apply with, and I prefer using a buffing brush or a beauty blender. The product does start to dry down quite quickly, so you need to blend as soon as you apply it. It is a bit darker than my skin tone, but I can make it work. It starts getting shiny after about six hours, so it will need to be set, and it would probably last for less on oilier skin types.

The Physician’s Formula Super BB InstaReady Filter BB Bronzer (wow what a mouthful) has an spf of 30 which makes it perfect for Summer! Although this should definitely not be your primary source of sun protection, it can help. The bronzer is meant to give a multi-dimensional glow that helps to perfect the skin by diffusing and softening the light. Because it is too light for me as a bronzer, I have been using it as a powder, and it does perfect the skin, without making it look flat. The powder is soft and silky, and the lighter shades add a brightening effect. I love that this powder doesn’t leave me looking dry and wrinkly, but still helps to keep me oil-free.

The Physicians Formula InstaReady Setting Spray can be used to prep the skin before makeup, as a setting spray, or as a face mist throughout the day. It has a good spray radius and mist, and leaves my skin feeling comfortable, which is expected since it can be used as a skin prep and face mist! I hate it when setting sprays leave that tacky, tight and dry feeling! This doesn’t extend wear time that much, but I quite like it.

Moving on to the most summery blush ever, The Benefit Cosmetics GALifornia Blush (R415). This just screams Summer to me, even the scent is summery. I love the pinky gold shade. It blends well, lasts long, and doesn’t emphasise texture. This is definitely one I will use often in Summer! I am not too much of a fan of the box packaging, but it isn’t a deal breaker.

Revlon has released a new range called Color Charge which is already available. It is cool and trendy and I was so excited for this new direction from Revlon. I received a few products from the range, and these are my favourites!

The *Powder Highlight (R199) is a really pretty champagne highlighter. It is soft and buttery, with no glitter or shimmer, exactly how I like my highlighters!

The *Liquid Illuminator in Halo (R199) is the most beautiful liquid highlighter, and reminds me of the beloved, but sadly discontinued Revlon Photoready Skinlights! It is a stunning champagne highlighter with absolutely no shiny glitter, just illumination.

Another new launch that I want to share with you today are the *Clarins Water Lip Stains (R300), available in four shades. I have been a fan of lip stains for years, so I was really keen to try these. These are described as matte, buildable, transfer-proof, long lasting, and most importantly hydrating. The formula does dry down to a matte finish, and is most definitely buildable. You can go from a sheer tint to a bold tint by adding layers, and because the formula is light and watery, adding layers does not make lips feel sticky, tacky, heavy or dry, it actually feels like nothing on your lips. The colour does have a tendency to cling to dry patches though, so it is best to exfoliate your lips if you have any dry patches. Once dried down, these are transfer proof and last for about seven hours! These are perfect for Summer, but also for when you don’t have time to touch up your lips, as the stain is long lasting. I am loving these for a long lasting wash of colour.

I expected a doe foot applicator, but instead it is a tiny short brush. The size of the brush makes it is easy to apply thin layers of the stain precisely and evenly.

Summer Makeup Edit

What is Summer without a bright nail polish, right? The *Revlon Color Charge Nail polish in Crimson Jelly (R119) is a bright apple red jelly polish. It is fully opaque in two coats even though it has a jelly finish. It has a gorgeous glossy finish, and is a perfect Summer red!

Any make up prep is my saviour at the minute too!! I am all for bronzing and going for it in this weather. I’ve started avoiding highlights recently because I end up looking like a sweaty mess!

I tested the Clarins Water Lip Stain in shade 03 – Red Water. The swatch on my arm lasted for a long time, but unfortunately it only lasted 2 – 3 hours on my lips. It also settled into every little line 🙁

Oh no! It lasts quite long on my lips, but it depends what I eat or drink. It does sometimes settle into lines, but I find that if I apply very thin layers it doesn’t. And lip balm first!
