Today I am sharing my June First Impressions, a quick round up of my thoughts on the products I have trying out in the last month.
First up I have this beautiful bright shade from *Jessica Cosmetics called Sahara Sun. It is pigmented, long lasting and is sure to brighten the cold winter days!
Joburg winter is dry and cold, and my skin is not happy about it. But, I have a few products that make it a bit more bearable. The Lamelle *Serra Lipid Recovery Mask is soothing and hydrating and helps to repair the skin barrier, I have been using it as an overnight mask and it has been a life saver. I am a fan of thick body creams, especially in winter, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Lamelle *Soothing Body Lotion locks in moisture while still being light and non-greasy. I have heard quite a lot about Nikel Cosmetics, so I was excited to try out the *Nikelnutris Face Cream and *Cleansing Milk. Both products are gently and nourishing. The Face Cream is quite thick and rich, so not something I use every day, but I like to use it once a twice a week at night to give my skin a nourishing treat. The Cleansing Milk has been my go-to morning cleanser to lightly cleanse the skin without stripping it. I am obsessed with the REN Rose Moisture Defence Oil, and even featured it in my favourites. The Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist soothes and hydrates and is a lovely scented face mist to use after cleansing and before applying a serum. Lastly, is there anything better than a scented candle? The Charisma Candles Woodlands Collection Crushed Lemongrass and Bergamot Zest smells amazing, burns well, and thanks to the wood wick gives a crackle that adds that extra bit of cosiness.
I received these Fountain of Truth created by Giuliana Rancic products from *Influenster, and I am all for trying new products! The entire range is free from nasties, consists of biodegradable ingredients and is not tested on animals. I adore the Fresh Face Foaming Cleanser, it cleanses well without leaving my face feeling tight, while also providing gentle chemical exfoliation. I am not a huge fan of eyecreams, as I apply my serum all over my face, but the cooling applicator is a big hit. It instantly perks up the under-eye area, and the cream hydrates nicely. The Skin Nutrition Booster Kit is a set of three serums, one for brightening, one for hydrating and one for calming. I love the idea of this kit, it allows for a customised skin routine based on what you skin needs on the day. My favourites are B: Bright containing Vitamin C and Licorice Extract and B: Calm containing Niacinamide and Zinc, I don’t think B: Hydrated does enough for my skin even though it contains Sodium Hyaluronate & Vitamin B5.
Last year I changed my eating habits, in an attempt to be a bit healthier, also so that I can fit into my wedding dress! I started incorporating green juice, smoothies and more protein into my diet, and reducing fats and carbs. So I was quite excited when Beauty Gen sent over their *Beauty Greens containing Omega’s, Superfoods and Probiotics. It comes in two flavours, Coconut Vanilla or Blueberry and is available in a tub or handy sachets. I am not a fan of coconut scents or flavours, so I haven’t tasted it, but the Blueberry isn’t bad. I have it mixed in water, but it can also be added into smoothies, oats and yogurt. They also sent over a Wow Jude Facial Cloth and I am impressed, it is soft and works so well to remove makeup with nothing but water, similiar to the Makeup Eraser.
I love a good perfume, so when *Avon sent over their fragrance of the month, Eve Elegance, I was happy to give it a try. It is a floral, fruity fragrance that is still classy and well, elegant. With notes of jasmine, amberwood and pomegranate, as well as a musky base, this fragrance lasts all day.
Aaaahh Dior Makeup! I bought the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palettes, and for once I didn’t hoard and dove right in! The first palette Universal has been around for a while, and is available in SA, unfortunately Glitz is new and hasn’t launched here yet. Universal is definitely more glowy, while Glitz is more shimmery. They are both highly pigmented, and a little goes a very long way! I will have a full review and swatches of these up once I have played with them a little more. I have also been trying out the DiorSkin Nude Air Loose Powder in Light Beige. This is a hit and miss under the eyes, depending on the concealer I use, but as an all over face powder it gives skin a healthy glow while reducing shine. The finish isn’t flat which I love!
I also pulled out these Bobbi Brown Art Sticks to use, and I have a full review and swatches here.
