Hellloooo again! Time for my July First Impressions! I have a few exciting new skincare products that I have been trying out, and some mini makeup products too.
Let’s start with these cute Bobbi Brown Minis. The Smokey Eye Mascara is one of my favourite mascaras, I love how it lengthens, separates and makes my lashes look so luscious without clumping. Unfortunately the Eye Opening Mascara just didn’t do it for me, I think the spoolie is too big, and the formula didn’t impress me much either. The Illuminating Moisture Balm is great to prep the skin before makeup, especially in the dry winter, it leaves me skin looking and feeling plump and radiant. The Crushed Lip Colour in Babe is a beautiful shade, and the formula is heavenly! It is very pigmented, but still comfortable and hydrating. Lastly the Art Stick Liquid Lip in English Rose is a lovely dusty rose shade, it has a matteish finish but is still comfortable, light and moisturising. I reviewed the original Art Stick over here if you want to have a read. I will have a full review and swatches of these up soon.
As you can see I am clearly craving Spring with this shade called Flower Crown from *Jessica Cosmetics. I love how cheery and pretty this shade is! Jessica Cosmetics is one of my favourite polish brands, they dry so fast and last long too!
Moving onto skincare, I have these new goodies from *Dermalogica. The Intensive Moisture Cleanser is heavenly as a morning or second cleanse. It has a fresh, clean scent, that signature Dermalogica one. It is gentle, hydrating but cleanses well. Prisma Protect has been my go to moisturiser recently, and I love that it offers sun protection. It felt a bit thick when I first put some on my fingertips, but sinks in fully and feels so light and weightless on the skin. I like that the texture isn’t too runny, which makes me feel like the sun protection is a bit better. It also perfects the skin giving it a radiant healthy glow. Lastly my current night cream, the Intensive Moisture Balance, formulated to restore the skins barrier and lock in moisture, while still feeling light and non-greasy. All three of these products are perfect for dehydrated skin! I have a little Dermalogica giveaway over on my Instagram where you can win one of these products!
I bought myself two Sorbet Salon Skin products recently, the hyped Vitamin Rescue Masque and the Night Recovery Cream. The Masque is amazing, I love how soothed and radiant it leaves my skin looking, and I definitely get the hype now! The Cream did not work for me at all. It left my skin feeling drier than before I applied it, and did absolutely nothing for me.
A couple more skincare products, with three hits and one miss. The Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel is not what I expected, it feels silky and luxurious, and I expected something a bit gritty. It has quite a perfumed scent, that may bother some, but I like it, it reminds me of my grans face or body cream. All in all I really like this cleanser as a second cleanse. The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Cleanser has a light tea tree scent, is gentle and not stripping, but leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. Also from COSRX I have been trying the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. I really like this, and I feel like it does an amazing job, but I need to let it dry before applying my next step, which is not ideal when I am in a rush. With continued use my skin definitely looks more refined. Lastly, the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser was pretty average for me. I prefer the original one, before they reformulated. It cleanses well, and doesn’t feel too harsh or drying, but for the price I expected more.
I bought a couple of things from Beauty Factory when I was hosted a while ago, and so far I am really loving the Midlands Milk & Honey Shampoo and Conditioner. It cleanses well and leaves my hair feeling soft and silky, with less frizz too. Once I have rinsed my hair feels a bit stripped for some reason, but once dried it feels amazing. The Tissue Oil Body Caviar is amazing for dry skin, so much so that I gave it to my gran because she is really struggling with dry, peeling skin at the moment, and she asked me to get her some backups! I love the scent of the Karoo Cure Range, the products aren’t extremely hydrating, but are good enough for normal skin. They feel light and non-greasy on the skin, and the scent lingers which I adore!
I bought two diffusers from Dischem recently, and I am quite happy with them! The Baylis & Harding Wild Blackberry & Apple doesn’t have a very strong scent, but the packaging is beautiful. The Nature’s Edition Floral Journey really surprised me, the scent is so pretty and long lasting. I have this in the kitchen of our new house, that we are currently getting ready for after we are married, and every time we walk in there, I am so happy with the light whiff of floral that I get. I definitely want to check out a few of the other scents from this range.
As you may have seen, I bought tickets for the Kelli Clifton X Jo Malone Workshop a while back, and we got a little goodie bag. Wood Sage & Sea Salt is one of my favourite scents, so I am happy to get a little Body Creme, it is really moisturising. There were also two deluxe fragrance samples in Oud & Bergamot and Lime Basil & Mandarin. Neither of these scents really appealed to me before, until I wore them and layered them, and they came alive. I love the combination, and how the Lime Basil lifts the Oud and adds a fresh sweetness to it.
