So, a quick life update… I got engaged in March, on my birthday, and it was a perfect proposal if ever there was one, and my ring is also a beauty. After nine years together, I am so happy to be taking the next step, and I can’t wait to spend my life with him. He has some of the best qualities imaginable, and best of all, he is so patient with me and my moods, I don’t deny that I am not the easiest person. We have set a wedding date, provisionally booked a venue, and even bought a house! Yip, a lot has happened in the last 3 months! So, I thought it was about time that I put together a Honeymoon Destination Wishlist.

I have never, and probably will never use a travel agent, I prefer to book flights and hotels online myself after comparing a few options. I use a couple of different sites to search and compare flight prices, one of them being Travelstart. I compare different airlines and transit times before booking and paying online, you really do get the cheapest prices if you do it yourself! I like using Travelstart because MTN users get a discount, and every cent counts! For hotels I also book online, and have booked in countries that I have never been to before based on reviews, price, location and photos, and I have never had a bad experience.

We have been lucky enough to travel to Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand, as well as to Singapore and Malaysia. We have visited the Emerald Pools, Hot Springs and Maya Bay in Krabi and Phuket, zip-lined through a forest in Chiang Mai and roamed the streets of Bangkok. We acted like kids at Universal Studios in Singapore and celebrated the New Year in Kuala Lumpur. That is aside from the wonderful local trips around South Africa, with the Kruger Park being my favourite! So as you can imagine, picking a Honeymoon Destination is hard!

But, I would have to say my top three picks if cost wasn’t a concern, are; Bora Bora (thanks to the Kardashians), Philippines and The Maldives.
