Hi Ladies
Essence and Catrice have exciting new launches on our shelves, and I obviously had to get me some!
I did a preview post of the Essence Valentine Who Cares and the Catrice Alluring Reds Collections last week, and now I have some swatches and a mini review for you!
First up from Essence, the two Liquid Lipsticks! The bright red one is called crew love is true love and the darker red is called i’m not into roses. Both have great pigmentation without being drying. The dark red is a burgundy/dark purple shade and the bright red is a really striking shade of red. For less than R50 I think these are great liquid lipstick options! These have a glossy finish, so if you are looking for something matte, take a look at the Catrice lippies below.
First let’s take a look at the Lip Colour and Care Balm which has a subtle nude tint, but mostly moisturises and prepares lips wonderfully for lipstick, specifically for matte lipsticks. This product is really moisturising, and prevents lipstick from looking dry and gross as well as settling into your lip lines. You can wear this alone for nude tinted moisturised lips, or you can wear it under your lipstick as a hydrating primer. At R70, this is definitely the must from the collection.
Next up we have the Matt Lip Colours, of which I only bought one out of the three. I bought the lightest most orange shade called M-attraction. These remind me a lot of the Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks. I love the pigmentation, and I love using it over the balm above. These are really long lasting too without being as drying as other matte lipsticks. If you are a fan of bright matte lipticks, these are a great choice at only R90.
Lastly, the Liquid Lipsticks in Moulin’s Rouge, Brigitte Bordeaux and Marilyn Monrouge. These glossy liquid lipsticks are highly pigmented and not drying at all. They apply more as a pigmented lip gloss than as a lipstick. I love the shades of all three of these. Your lips but better for R70 each!
I was going to buy a nail polish set, but when I saw the nail swatch in store I wasn’t impressed. If anyone has tried it, please do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
I do love the silver packaging of the Matt Lip Colour and the Colour and Care Balm, sleek, modern and sophisticated.
Above are the swatches of the Essence Valentine Who Cares Liquid Lipsticks as well as swatches of the Catrice Alluring Reds Matt Lip Colour, Colour and Care Balm and Liquid Lipsticks.
See anything you like?
