Hi Ladies!
It is time for monthly favourites again!
My August Favourites were mostly makeup related, and mostly affordable too! I do have a couple of random things though, like soap and a candle!
This L’Occitane soap was a real lifesaver this dry winter, I used it as a hand soap, and it was creamy and moisturising and didn’t dry out my hands at all. I really liked this, although it is a bit expensive for a soap!
Next up is this Liberty Scented Candle in Joyful Jasmine, I picked this up at a random gift shop for R50, it smells amazing, and lasts so long. There are quite a few scents, but none of the others really caught my fancy. This is definitely the best scent, and reminds me of Thailand. The scents don’t seem that consistent though, my boyfriends one smells way better and stronger than mine. But for R50 it is worth a light!
There was recently a new collection launch from Essence, which I wrote about here. And I picked up the perfume. This is the first Essence perfume I have tried, and I am really impressed. It reminds me a lot of the Bath and Body Works Forever Midnight Range, which my dear boyfriend bought me. It is perfect for summer, fresh and fruity!
In our last travel adventure I went on a bit of a brush craze. At that time we didn’t have Real Techniques in SA, so I went a bit buckwild at Boots, you can check out my holiday beauty haul here. Real Techniques is now available at selected Clicks, Foschini, Takealot.com and Biovea.com. I picked up some brushes from Biovea at a discount last month, you can find more details on my Great Bargains page here. Anyways, back to the point, I bought this Real Techniques Setting Brush, and I am loving it. I use it to set my under-eye concealer, and it is so fluffy and the perfect size to fit under my eye. I have been using it with my Ben Nye Banana Powder and it works so well.
Now, makeup time!
Let’s start at the top:
BioNike Correcter, I found this at Dischem for R120, and it is a perfect salmon colour to disguise dark under-eye circles. You only need a teeny tiny amount, it blends well, doesn’t crease and is just amazing! There are many other expensive correcters out there, but this one is definitely a great affordable find!
Next up, Essence Nauti Girl Waterproof Eye Pencil in ‘Ahoy, Boy’. This eyeliner is amazing, it is long lasting, a deep royal blue. It is part of the latest Essence Collection which I wrote about here. It has a built in sharpener, which is pretty nifty, so each time you twist open the lid, it sharpens the pencil and leaves you with a great sharp point. Pretty handy, although I feel it might sharpen unnecessarily and waste a bit… But I love it!
Rubybox Smooch Stick in Tangerine Tango, I am loving orange lips, as I mentioned in my July Favourites here. This stick is great, highly pigmented, suits all skin tones, non-drying and long lasting. What’s not to love?
Cargo Blush Stick in Champagne, I picked this up at a Clicks sale a while ago for about R50 I think. It is meant to be a blush stick, but I use it as a highlighter. It applies smoothly, and is perfect above the cheek bones when paired with a cream blush. This is perfect for a healthy summer glow, and if you can pick this up at a Clicks store I highly recommend it!
Below are swatches of my makeup faves!
Thanks for reading Ladies!

The BioNike Correcter sounds promising! Thank you for the info. 🙂
Pleasure, it really is great!
That candle looks good. Definitely beats the price of a Yankee Candle.
I love BioNike skincare but I’ve never tried their makeup. Want to test their corrector out soon.
And have to agree with the RT setting brush, nothing beats it for under eye powder. Great picks ?
Yip, the candle is amazing for the price! Their correcter is definitely worth a try.
Where can you get the candles? Thanks.
I bought it at a gift shop at Park Meadows shopping centre in JHB, I think it is called Sensations
