We are back from our dreamy honeymoon, and unfortunately reality hit us in the face as soon as we landed. We were both terribly sick with a viral infection, possibly dengue fever, and my family home got broken into and my jewellery and perfumes that I had not yet packed up and moved were all stolen. Anyway, let’s hope that the year gets better and let’s move swiftly onto my review of the Placecol Excellence Range.
The *Placecol Excellence Range consists of four serums each specifically formulated to target different skin concerns. The Range is well-priced, ranging from R480 to R750 and the prices are reflective of the actives/ingredients each product contains.
The Gravity Lift Solution visibly lifts and tightens the face, and contains eight active ingredients to smooth and minimise fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains a Retinol that is non-irritating and mild enough to use every night, while still offering the renewing and reviving effects.
The Brighten Solution is my favourite, as it contains Vitamin C and Arbutin to reduce sun damage and pigmentation, as well as Retinol and Salicylic Acid to repair and calm the skin. I have found that a few pigmentation products tend to clog my pores, but because of the addition of Salicylic Acid, this is not the case with this one, and in fact it helps to control sebum production. It is important to use sun protection with this product, as it can increase sensitivity. Also, if you are trying to reduce pigmentation and sun damage you should be wearing sun protection anyway, else you are fighting a losing battle.
I use the Pure Solution as a spot treatment as needed, it contains Salicylic Acid to regulate sebum and reduce breakouts but doesn’t dry out the skin thanks to the addition of a moisturising agent.
Lastly, the Scar Solution contains Squalane and Vitamin E to soothe and calm the skin and restore the barrier. It also contains non-irritating retinol to assist with cell renewal. This is moisturising enough to use on its own, but can be used underneath a moisturiser if needed.
The Placecol Excellence Range is available now online, and at selected stores.

Can I please have some advice as to how, when, and with which products the Placecol Brighten Solution can be used with? I have the Pure Solution, Scar Solution, and Brighten Solution, but I’m not sure which product to use when. I have super oily skin and I tend to pick at a little spot until it’s so inflamed and painful, leaving ugly dark marks on my face. Especially around my jawline area.
Hi Bianca
If you have a spot coming on, try not to pick at it. Rather use the pure solution on the spot to dry it out. The brighten should be used on scars and marks, but only once the spot has healed. If you have oily skin the scar solution may be too rich for your skin. But if your skin is feeling irritated then use the scar solution. Always wear spf during the day too.
Love the sound of the brightening one x
