August/September First Impressions

I cannot believe in less than two months time I will be married, wedding planning and getting a new house ready is not easy! I haven’t had much time to try many new products, but here are my August/September First Impressions of the new products I have started testing out.

On my nails I am wearing Violet from Zoya, how beautiful is this shade? It is opaque in two thin coats, and I just love the colour.

Lush sent over a few *products recently, with a focus on 5 of their scents, of which 3 are new to me! Sleepy Body Lotion from the Calming Lavender Scented Sleepy Range, one of my favourite ranges from Lush! I have just finished my tub, so I’m happy for a replacement. The Rose Jam Shower Gel from the Rose Jam Range is a bit rosier and sweeter than the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, and I am really enjoying it. The Dirty Shower Gel from the Spearmint Scented Dirty Range, is a new scent range from me, and I am not a fan at all, it is just too minty and fresh for my liking. Karma Soap from the Orange Oil Scented Range is my new obsession, I love this scent, it is gorgeous and fills my bathroom with its intoxicating scent, I definitely want to try more Karma products. Lastly I have the Scrubee Body Butter from the Honey I Washed The Kids Range. I just love how cute this is! The scent is beautiful, soft and comforting. This does a great job of getting rid of rough skin while moisturising.

August/September First Impressions

I was also sent these fruity and affordably body products from *The Superfruit Collection. The Cleansing Hand Washes and Exfoliating Shower Gels are not drying and the All Over Body Moisturiser is light but hydrating. There is also a Mango & Passionfruit Range that sounds yummy!

I am such a fan of *Avene, their products are gentle but effective, and most of all affordable. The Soothing Radiance Mask is just glorious as an overnight mask, and has replaced the much loved Soothing Moisture Mask. The Revitalizing Nourishing Cream is soft and silky and perfect for dry skin. I am already a huge fan of the Cicalfate Range especially after face treatments, and the Repair Cream and Repair Balm restore the skins barrier while soothing irritated skin.

I attended the launch of the *Placecol Excellence Range a while back, and was kindly sent home with the entire range. The Range consists of four serums to target different skin concerns. The Gravity Lift Solution visibly lifts and tightens the face, although it pilled so badly on me I haven’t tried it again, but will give it a go again soon. The Brighten Solution is my favourite, and it contains Vitamin C and Arbutin to reduce sun damage and pigmentation. I use the Pure Solution as a spot treatment as needed, it contains Salicylic Acid to regulate sebum and reduce breakouts but doesn’t dry out the skin. The Scar Solution soothes and calms the skin and restores the barrier and is great after a face treatment or intense retinol/acid session.

PTR Pro Strength Retinol Lactic

I love Peter Thomas Roth skincare, I just wish they were more easily available here, but luckily *Influenster sent over two of their new launches! The Retinoid Peptide Serum hasn’t caused me any irritation, and I love a retinol, so I’m keen to see the results. The Lactic Pore Treatment is a 2 minute treatment to refine and decongest skin as well as brighten and exfoliate. I felt a slight tingle on application, which I love, my skin definitely looks brighter and less dull after use.

Luxury at it’s best with *Sensai! The Blooming Blush in Blooming Mauve is absolutely gorgeous, the colour is perfect, it blends so well and feels soft and silky. I have already decided that I am going to use the Lash Volumiser 38 Mascara on my wedding day, because it really is waterproof, but isn’t a mission to remove. It lengthens, adds volume and holds a curl. The Revitalising Pads work as a treatment under the eyes and they feel so gorgeous on the skin, these will definitely be part of my wedding prep.

I received a bunch of new brow products from *Julienne, a new, affordable and cruelty free range. There are four products in the range and there are different shades available. The Brow Tint- for a natural but long lasting look. I gave this to my aunt as I don’t tint my brows, and her brows looked darker but not too dramatic and still natural. I am really enjoying the Retractable Brow Pencil, a triangular shaped pencil with a soft spoolie to blend out perfectly. I usually prefer a micro pencil, so I was a bit skeptical about this triangle tip, but it works to fill brows and give a natural looking full brow. I find myself reaching for this a lot recently as it is just a quick and easy product to use. The Brow Pomade is a creamy, water resistant and smudge proof pomade for full bold brows. I am not too much of a fan of pomades, I prefer pencils, but this does a good job and can be blended for a more natural finish. How exciting that there is a Brow Cushion, inline with the cushion makeup trend that took over! It is two toned so you can get the perfect shade, it dries quickly and is also smudge proof and water resistant. It comes with it’s own applicator too. I enjoyed using this, and I think those who like a powder or pomade would enjoy this, but I find myself reaching for the pencil more for the ease of use. I did notice that even though I have Dark Brown in all of the products, the undertone, intensity and shades differ quite a bit between products, so I would recommend testing these out in store.

The beautiful Elizabeth Arden White Tea *Collection has expanded to include two new scents. The Original White Tea Scent is a crisp but warm floral scent with Woody and Musky notes. The Wild Rose Variant has a fresh oriental rose scent, combined with notes of Peony and Tonka Bean. The Vanilla Orchid Scent is my favourite with notes of Bergamot, Gardenia and Jasmine, it is more floral and fresh than the others, and I really think it is the perfect Spring/Summer scent. I gave the original to my mom, and she adores it!
