Ladies, today I am sharing A Few to Make you Glow, beauty products from skincare to makeup that I have been using to create that perfect healthy glow. Glowing skin starts before piling on the highlighter, it starts with a good skincare routine, a routine that gets rid of dullness and clogged pores while maintaining the integrity of the skin.
Once you have skin that is radiant and hydrated, that is when you add the highlight!
A good exfoliator is one of the most important steps in my skincare routine, it leaves my skin radiant and smooth, and helps my makeup look so much better too. You can either scrub (physical exfoliator) or peel (enzyme or chemical exfoliator) which is less abrasive yet more powerful. The *Filorga Oxygen-Peel Re-oxygenating micro-peeling lotion is a daily acid toner to be used every evening after cleansing. This isn’t going to make your skin flake, this is a ‘slow and steady wins the race’ product. It contains a cocktail of acids, Glycolic, Gluconolactone and Salicylic to remove dull skin and improve skin texture, Phytic, Citric and Mandelic to even the complexion and boost radiance and lastly Hyaluronic for hydration.
I get a slight tingle from this when applied, which I love! My skin loves acids, and if you have a look at my Birthday Wishlist you will see how much, and it loves this. My skin looks clearer and more radiant, and this is one I will use to the last drop! Talking about dropping, I love this pump style bottle, which means I will never waste this precious liquid by tilting too much or dropping it!
When skin needs a quick instant radiance boost, a mask is the easiest way to achieve it, and a sheet mask is the least messy. The Sephora Collection Pearl Sheet Mask fits my face perfectly, and leaves my skin looking luminous and plump. This is the best addition to my skincare routine before a function, it just leaves my skin looking amazing!
Now that the prep work is done, it’s time for the fun!
The *REN Perfect Canvas is pretty much good skin in a bottle, a very elegant fancy looking dropper-bottle! It plumps up the skin, smooths out pores and fine lines to create the perfect base for makeup, while also protecting the skins barrier and increasing hydration thanks to the inclusion of ingredients such as Probiotic Extract and Hyaluronan amongst others. Although it has a soft matte finish, it still leaves my skin looking fresh and healthy and most importantly feeling hydrated. Its a clear liquid that melts into the skin feeling undetectable, it definitely isn’t your typical pore-clogging silicone primer. I take 3-4 drops on my fingertips, and sweep and press into my skin before applying makeup, alternatively you can mix it in with your foundation.
Getting that glow is as much about the products, as it is about the tools and application. I know makeup sponges have been around for ages, and give quite a dewy radiant look, and although I have used a few on and off, I have never been so blown away by the shape of one before! The *Ecotools Total Perfecting Blender has been my go-to for makeup application for three reasons. Firstly it swells so much once wet, secondly it has a long flat tip which is perfect for the under-eye area and lastly there are two large flat areas that are perfect for the whole face and it doesn’t take forever to bop around. I use it damp to apply my foundation and concealer, as well as to press the highlighter into my skin so that it really blends in and looks as if I am glowing from within. I also use it to apply powder under my eyes to set the concealer, although it shouldn’t be too damp, or it will start to move everything around as well as mess up your powder! It also comes with a cute little stand!
Swatches from Bottom -Top:
I think the most important thing for a glowy look is as little coverage as possible, which is why I have been enjoying the Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation. It is lightweight and dewy, and just perfects the skin without covering it up. I use concealer to cover up anything else that I need to, and although this foundation can be built up, it won’t offer more than medium coverage.
Once you start with a setting powder, the glow starts getting dim, so I have been reaching for the Laura Geller Balance + Brighten Baked Foundation. It doesn’t look ashy, doesn’t make my skin look dry, and brightens the area, it also adds a small bit of coverage. Most importantly, I don’t use powder all over my face, but rather just under my eyes to set my concealer, and on my forehead and nose. The best tip I have about setting powder is to focus on the center of the face, and let the rest of the face glow! It is very easy to overdo the powder which will take your look from glowy to matte very quickly.
And now to top off the glow, highlighter! The trèStiQue mini highlighter has such a wonderful texture, and when blended into the skin adds a luminous glow. When using stick products I find that the best way to use it is to colour some onto a sponge, or pick up some product with a brush and then apply to the skin. When applied directly onto the skin it always seems to shift my other products around, and also can apply too heavily.
These are definitely not all of my Glow Getting skincare products, but to avoid this post becoming too long, I will be doing a separate post focusing on radiant skincare!
