The Body Shop Drops of Light Range- A Review
Tuesday, 5 Sep 2017
When I first heard about The Body Shop Drops of Light Pure Healthy Brightening Range, I was soooo excited, and I knew I had to try it! I was sent the Pure Healthy Brightening Serum to review before it launched, but I wanted/needed the rest of the range to be able to give you all a proper, well-rounded review, you know what I mean?
The Range which has been out for a while now, is enriched with Red Algae and Vitamin C, for brighter, more luminous skin. I have been using the products for a few months now, so I am happy to report back and let you know my thoughts.
Drops of Light Pure Clarifying Foam Wash- This is described as a rich creamy foam wash that doesn’t strip the skin. Unfortunately, my skin felt squeaky clean and a bit tight after use. It does remove makeup well though, and lathers up quite luxuriously.
Drops of Light Pure Translucency Essence Lotion- This feels pretty thick to be an essence, it has a gloopy thick texture that is patted onto skin after cleansing to prepare your skin for the next steps in your skincare routine. It is hydrating, but starts off sticky, with a gel to water finish. I actually really like this, even though it is a bit tacky when applied, it really perks my skin up again after feeling tight from the face wash.
Drops of Light *Pure Healthy Brightening Serum- This lightweight serum is so runny, and I almost feel the texture of this and the essence should be swapped. However, my skin looks instantly illuminated and plumper. It is fast absorbing and comes in a mess free dropper bottle. Just 1-2 drops massaged into skin, after the Essence does the job.
You can see the texture of each product below L-R: Serum, Essence Lotion, Foam Wash.
Drops of Light Pure Healthy Brightening Skin Day Cream- I love the silky texture of this cream. It hydrates nicely, making my skin look healthier and plumper. And somehow instantly brighter too. I just wish there was a night cream in this range!
Drops of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel- I love this non-abrasive exfoliator, it is rubbed onto skin and sort of balls up, along with all the dead skin. Dull skin is instantly erased to reveal a brighter more luminous, and even lighter complexion. This and the Serum are my must-haves from this range.
There is also a Multi Protection Essence SPF product which launched before the rest of the range. I bought it when it first launched, but unfortunately I haven’t used it yet (yes I am a hoarder), and I forgot to include it in this post. I will start using it soon, and link my review once I have.
This multi-benefit range is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. It combines red algae, known for its brightening and pigmentation benefits, with Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.
I am not sure about the dark spots claim, as I think that is a hard one to achieve without a strong active ingredient, but brighter, lighter, plumper and more luminous for sure!
