May Beauty Favourites + Empties

I have my May Beauty Favourites to share with you today. The air is getting drier, the temperature cooler, and my skin is getting more parched by the minute.
Although a scented candle doesn’t raise the temperature, it does make the room feel a little more cosy. This one is from Cotton On, called Chill, and it smells amazing and burns so well. The scent is hard to describe, it is spicy, but sweet, warm, but floral, and I love it.
I have been loving two great, but very different skincare products recently, the first is the Dermalogica *Phyto Replenish Oil and the second is The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution. The Dermalogica Oil has really helped with hydration and barrier repair, while still being light and non-greasy. The Salicylic Acid has helped with clogged pores and blemishes, and although the texture is a bit weird (it foams if you apply too much) the results are worth it.
Lush recently launched a *Naked Skincare Range, and I was sent a few products to try out. The 7 to 3 Cleansing Wipe is my favourite product of the bunch, a gentle but effective creamy wipe that doesn’t harm the environment. It is pretty much the Lush 9 to 5 cream cleanser in a biodegradable cotton pad form. The scent is heavenly, with a hint of jasmine, but nothing too overpowering. I wipe it across my face and then massage and rinse. When removing mascara, I fold it in half and rub it across my lashes to remove mascara, and it works like a dream!
Next up is the only brow product I have been using for the past few weeks, but I completely forgot to feature in my favourites! The LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil in Blackest Brown reminds me of the Stila Precision Glide Brow Pencil and the NYX Micro Brow Pencil, both favourites of mine, although this one is much much cheaper. The nib is very thin, quite dense and hard, so it applies in very thin hair like strokes. Unfortunately the photo below isn’t great, as it is on its last, but I do have a post on a few brow products coming up soon and this one is featured.
And now for some Empties:
Schwarzkopf Bonacure Barbary Fig Oil Shampoo– I liked this shampoo, it left my hair feeling silky soft, but I don’t think I will repurchase it.
Avon Super Extend Winged Out Mascara- This mascara lengthens well and gives lashes a natural look, I love the spoolie too. I don’t think I would repurchase though.
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea 4 in 1 Marine Boosting Mist– I love love love this, the scent, the effect, everything. I would repurchase if it was easily available.
The Body Shop Hawaiian Kukui Cream– I love the scent and creaminess of this cream, and I would probably repurchase.
The Body Shop Tahitian Tiare Body Wash– I adore this, the scent is divine, it is hydrating, I would definitely repurchase.
The Body Shop Aloe Deodorant– I really liked this for my sensitive underarms, would probably repurchase.
Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel– I really love this cleanser, although I wouldn’t repurchase as it isn’t easy to get a hold of.
Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser- Same with this cleanser, I love it, but it is not available in South Africa, so I probably wouldn’t repurchase. I am currently using the SIX Skincare Glycolic Cleanser, and enjoying it so far.
Bourjois Concealer Stick- I really liked this for under my eyes, it didn’t crease, was creamy and covered well. I don’t think I would repurchase though, as I prefer a few other options over this.
*Elizabeth Arden Prevage Progressive Renewal Treatment- Love love love!
